Let’s get concrete for a moment. The cement-based building substance certainly isn’t the coziest of home décor materials. But wait until you see what French firm Lyon Béton has in store when it comes to coffee tables, TV benches, bistro tables, chairs, shelves, and more. Béton is French for “concrete,” by the way.

If you’re looking for a unique and new form of aesthetic expression in your home, concrete might be the ticket. The cool thing is that you do not need to have a massive space to house a Lyon Béton piece. They have small bistro tables for kitchen nooks, and even a magazine shelf can fit into a small space to add some concrete cool. They recently added décor items and accessories to their line, such as plant holders, book ends, vases and wall art.

The Green Collection features coffee tables, flower stands and benches that allow you to plant inside the actual piece of furniture (see right above). There’s

even the option to use that allocated plant space as an aquarium. The Dawn Collection boasts coffee tables and a sweet little block stool that fits into less spacious environs. The Hauteville bar chairs are beautifully 1950s, with long Giacometti-style legs.

While crafted of cement, the pieces convey an airy and open lightness. It’s not merely a visual effect. Lyon Béton reinforces the concrete with fibers and metal wires to give the items a manageable weight. They also put a lot of thought into the finishing of their objects to create a soft-to-the-touch surface.
